Nampa

July 19, 1997 – March 3, 2010
Our beautiful angel, Ashley Marie Winn of Nampa, passed peacefully from this life into the next on March 3, 2010, after succumbing to heart failure.

Ashley is the first child of Jason and Connie (Walquist) Winn, formerly of Rupert. She was born under miraculous circumstances, and the miracles continued throughout her life. She was born five weeks early while her mother, Connie, who lived in Evanston, Wyo. at the time, was taking care of her younger brother and sisters while their parents were out of town. Within hours of her birth, she was life flighted to Primary Children’s Medical Center where she underwent her first surgery a short time later.

She spent the first two months of her life in the hospital and had two more surgeries before being released to her parents’ care. Despite the health challenges she faced, including congenital heart disease, Ashley was a happy baby and joyful child. At 18 months, she was required to have her first open-heart surgery. This ended up as another two-month hospital stay and required more surgeries, including the addition of a pacemaker.

A few months after returning home from the hospital, Ashley was excited to become a big sister when her first brother, Austin, was born. In the years that followed, Ashley became a big sister twice more when Spencer and then Preston were born. Like all older sisters, she had moments of frustration with her brothers, but she loved them very much.

Ashley’s life was never easy; she battled many health challenges, mainly from complications with her heart, for all 12 years she was on the earth. But she bore it all with grace and dignity, particularly through the last most difficult months of her life. She had great faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and her faith sustained her through the most difficult moments.

She leaves behind a legacy of great faith and courage, as well as a family who loves her and will miss her very much. She is survived by: her parents, Jason and Connie Winn of Nampa; her three brothers, Austin, Spencer and Preston; her grandparents Ralph and Brenda Walquist of Paul, Gene and Kenna Bell of Brigham City, Utah, Kimball and Kimberly Winn and their children Geni and Nick of Evanston, Wyo., LaRae and Richard Dean of Twin Falls; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 8, at the Paul LDS Stake Center, 424 W. Ellis St., in Paul. Burial will be in the Paul Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church.
