May is a busy time at the library – school classrooms visit for field trips, summer reading registrations are in full swing and wonderful programs for the public are being presented each week. Come to the library to see the many services that we offer the public! Don’t forget the $1.00 summer reading cards for children ages 1 – 18.
Story time is available three times a week—Tuesday at 10:30 AM, Thursday at 6:30 PM and Friday at 10:30 AM. Children and parents will share stories, rhymes, songs and a simple craft. May themes are:
May 5th – 7th, Mother’s Day
May 12th – 14th, What grows in my garden?
May 19th – 21st, Cookie, cookie good to eat!
Note: the week of May 19th will be the last story time until fall
May 11th, Friends of Burley Public Library monthly meeting at 1:30 PM
May 13th – 1:30 PM, Burley Public Library Afternoon Book Club. The club will discuss “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks”, by Rebecca Skloot. This book contains the fascinating story of the life of Henrietta Lacks and the tremendous impact that she unknowingly had on medical research.
May 18th – 6:00 PM, “Soups On!” with Diane Bevan of Sweetheart Manor. She will give hints and tips for wonderful soups and casseroles. Come hear her time and money- saving tips and have a taste of her samples. Free and everyone invited!!
May 19th – 4:00 PM, “A Bunch of Munsch”. Burley Public Library will celebrate author Robert Munsch’s amazing and appealing stories for children. We will share some of his stories, make a craft, play a game and have a snack. Free and everyone invited!!
May 19th – 7:00 PM, “Livestock Grazing on the Cassia District of the Minidoka National Forest, 1870 – 1950’s” by Mark O’Brien. This presentation is in honor of Idaho Archaeology and Historic Preservation Month.
May 25th – 4:00 PM, Burley Public Library Board Meeting
