The Burley boy’s varsity soccer team’s hope for a trip to the state tournament was dashed tonight in a heartbreaking loss to Wood River.  The Bobcats were down 2-0 at half time, and came roaring back with a goal from Alex Magana and another by Kartch Hinckley.  The regulation game ended in a tie 2-2.

They then played a 10 minute sudden death overtime period, which ended scoreless, despite the Bobcat’s dominance.  A second 10 minute overtime period also ended 0-0.  This tie leads to a shoot out.  Five players from each team were given a shot on goal with only the goalie defending.  The shoot out ended 6-6, with the teams tied once again.

A second shoot out with five different players started, and the Wolverines got ahead 7-6 to win the chance to go to the state tournament.  Burley played with heart, and should feel proud of their winning season.
